Community days, taking place at the city’s 12 Community Schools, are making their way all across Philadelphia. Recently Southwark School and South Philadelphia High School held theirs and on Friday, May 18 F.S. Edmonds, in East Mount Airy, also opened its doors for all to join in a fun-filled day of food, friends, and neighborhood connections.

In spite of a rainy afternoon, students, parents and community members all showed up to enjoy the celebration and access great resources. Even Mayor Kenney stopped by!

Children and adults alike enjoyed free water ice and fun activities including an all-ages hip hop dance class taught by members of Movemakers Philly, thanks to a partnership with the Office of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

The event also kicked off a partnership between F.S. Edmonds and the Common Market, who will be providing community members with access to fresh produce at upcoming events. BenePhilly and Pennsylvania Health Access Network were also on hand to walk community members through benefit and health provider access.
