Philadelphia Business Income and Receipts Tax (BIRT) and Net Profits Tax (NPT) are due on April 17 this year.

There are many good reasons to pay business taxes online, but if you owe $5,000 or more, you only need one:
It’s mandatory.

If you owe less than $5,000 you should probably still pay electronically. Why?

  1. It saves you time. The City’s tax filing and payment system is available 24 hours a day. No waiting, no lines.
  2. You get immediate confirmation. An official electronic notification shows the amount you paid and what account it was applied to.
  3. It reduces mistakes. Paper checks can get lost or damaged in the mail. Hard-to-decipher handwriting results in errors.
  4. Savings. With eCheck, there is no cost to the taxpayer, and lower processing costs on our end means more funds for schools and City services.

This is what you need to pay online:

  • Your Federal Entity Identification Number (EIN); or
  • Social Security Number (SSN); or
  • Philadelphia Tax Account Number;

And

  • Your Philadelphia Department of Revenue PIN (Personal Identification Number). It’s easy to get a PIN online if you don’t have one; and
  • The routing number of your financial institution and your account number if paying by eCheck (FREE); or
  • A credit/debit card (fees apply).
