Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers honored Madison Coyne, age 8, winner of the 2010 “BAFFY Bunny Spring Fire Prevention Contest”
Fire Commissioner, Lloyd Ayers is pleased to announce Madison Coyne, age 8 as the winner of the 2010 “BAFFY Bunny Spring Fire Prevention Contest.” Madison received a Certificate of Merit and a check for $200.00 from Fire Commissioner Ayers in a ceremony at her school on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. The BAFFY (Be A Fire Fighting Youth) Bunny Spring Contest is part of the Fire Department’s ongoing fire prevention effort.
The contest is open to all children in Philadelphia between the ages of six and twelve. It began in 1974 as the “Name the Bunny” Easter Contest. This year’s contest was a fire safety crossword puzzle. Contest entry forms were delivered to all of Philadelphia’s elementary schools by local fire companies. All completed puzzles were collected by the fire companies and forwarded to the Fire Prevention Division. Madison’s completed fire safety puzzle was chosen entirely at random from thousands of completed entries placed in a bin.
