Deputy Commissioner David Beatrice began his career with the City of Philadelphia in May 1977. His first position was as an accountant in the Department of Public Property working on large federally funded transit construction projects. He rose through the accounting ranks until transferring into the Architecture and Engineering Division as an Administrative Officer.
In 1989 he was promoted to Budget Officer I and started his new career in the Fire Department. Again he was promoted through the ranks to the position of Fiscal Officer. In that position he directed all the daily accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing and warehousing operations of the Department.
In April 2006, Mr. Beatrice was named the Acting Deputy Commissioner for Administrative Services. In this position he directs all Fiscal, Facility Maintenance, Management Information and Personnel functions of the Department.
Mr. Beatrice earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Villanova University (Go Wildcats!) in 1975. He also was awarded a Masters in Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania Fels School of Government in 1987.
A life long resident of Philadelphia, Mr. Beatrice currently resides in the Somerton section of Philadelphia with his wife Deborah and his son and daughter.
