Diane Schweizer

Deputy Commissioner Administrative Services

Deputy Commissioner Schweizer joined the Philadelphia Fire Department in May 1995, and has served honorably in each rank of Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, and Chief. Being the first female appointed to Deputy Commissioner is historic for the Philadelphia Fire Department.

Deputy Commissioner Schweizer graduated from the University of Scranton (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Minor in Business. She studied abroad at the London School of Economics, and was inducted into the Mathematics Honor Society. She earned a Master’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) (GPA 4.0) from Hahnemann University (now, Drexel University), and received the University Departmental Graduate Achievement Award. In June 2010, the University of Scranton awarded her the Frank J. O’Hara Award for outstanding achievement in Government Service.

Deputy Commissioner Schweizer resides in the Northeast section of the City with her husband; Nicki, Keiko, and Shelby (dogs); and Mulberry and Lucky (cats).
