Connecting pre-K–12 student households to digital access with internet and training.
About
PHLConnectED will connect eligible pre-K–12 student households with access to free, reliable internet service through summer 2023. Participants will not pay any out-of-pocket expenses or installation fees. The program will also provide digital skills training and support.
There are two core components of PHLConnectED:
- Wired, high-speed, reliable internet to the home from Comcast’s Internet Essentials program, or a high-speed mobile hotspot from T-Mobile for families who need a mobile internet solution.
- Digital skills training and tech support.
PHLConnectED is possible thanks to collaboration among business and civic leaders who came together to support Philadelphia students.
Process and eligibility
Pre-K–12 student households with students at participating schools qualify for PHLConnectED if they:
- Do not have internet access.
- Have mobile phone internet access only.
- Are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.
- Have students who participate in remote learning in locations without internet access.
If households with students at participating schools already have internet in their homes, they also qualify if they:
- Participate in public benefit programs with income qualifications like Medicaid.
- Have students designated as English Learners.
- Have students who receive special education services.
