About

The Neighborhood Funding Stream (NFS) helps combat poverty by investing in equitable economic development. NFS provides grant funding in targeted areas of the city for commercial development, beautification, and financial empowerment opportunities.

Community-based nonprofits and small businesses can apply for these grants on a rolling basis. Neighborhood Funding Stream is managed by the Department of Commerce.

Grant opportunities

Select an NFS grant opportunity to learn more and apply:

  • The Business Assistance Grant supports small businesses serving low- and moderate-income households to open or expand in Philadelphia. The funding will help businesses purchase equipment, make interior storefront improvements, and create new job opportunities on neighborhood commercial corridors.
  • The Beautification Grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations for beautification projects. The funding will enhance neighborhood identity and aesthetics with improvements like trees, planters, art, and public furniture.
  • The Neighborhood Economic Development Impact Grant supports commercial development in underserved areas. The funding will support equitable investment in new construction and rehabilitation projects to existing buildings.
  • The Nonprofit Capital Grant addresses urgent capital needs. The funding will help nonprofit organizations cover the costs of an emergency, like damage to equipment or basic systems, so that they can continue offering critical services.
