Germantown Avenue complete streets project

A Complete Streets project

About

Germantown Avenue (from Indiana Avenue to Erie Avenue) is an important commercial and transit corridor that connects several different neighborhoods. With this project, the City will improve traffic safety and help to reduce the high number of crashes on the street. We will work with community members and businesses to understand the traffic safety issues that impact people who walk, take transportation, and drive on Germantown Avenue.

This project is in the planning phase for design and construction. Improvements to the street will be informed by feedback from community members and transit riders and will:

  • Repave and restripe the road.
  • Explore ways to reduce crashes by improving the design of the street.
  • Upgrade traffic signals and signage.
  • Look for ways to improve the transit experience.
