Mayor & City’s Director of Immigrant Affairs Release Statement on Joe Arpaio

PHILADELPHIA – Mayor Jim Kenney and Director of Immigrant Affairs, Miriam Enriquez, released the following statement on the pardon of Joe Arpaio.

“Joe Arpaio racially profiled and inflicted terrible physical harm on human beings. More than that, he celebrated his hate and encouraged others, in and outside the justice system, to hate too. This pardon, like many of the President’s actions, contradicts his professed claims for respecting the rule of law. Arpaio does not represent American values and he does not represent the law enforcement officers who do their jobs with professionalism and fairness everyday.”
