OACCE Hosts Second Annual Citywide Arts Education Fair to Connect Arts with Local Educators

PHILADELPHIA – Today, The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE), in partnership with the Kimmel Center of Performing Arts and the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, presented the Arts Education Fair at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Prior to 2016, the fair primarily showcased the Kimmel Center’s arts education programs, along with the work of its esteemed Resident Companies. Last year, the Arts Education Fair expanded to include arts organizations from throughout Philadelphia as a result of the partnership.

“Last year was the first expanded fair, and we had 53 organizations and programs on hand to speak to not just teachers but, librarians, Recreation Center leaders, and others about their arts and cultural activities. Ninety percent of surveyed attendees discovered new arts organizations with which to partner,” said Chief Cultural Officer Kelly Lee. “This year that number has almost doubled, revealing that organizations are eager to serve more communities.”

This year, more than 90 Philadelphia arts organizations, groups, and teaching artists registered to exhibit their arts education programs, initiatives, and workshops. Each exhibiting group provided information about their programming including discipline, age groups served, times of year programs are offered, and whether they work in schools or out of schools. This information will be included with the map and legend for the Fair, to help attendees find new partners based on their programming needs.
