PHILADELPHIA – Mayor Jim Kenney released the following statement on the revisions, released today by Senate Republicans, on the Senate bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“These minor changes don’t change the fundamental meanness of the Senate Republican bill.  Nearly 40 percent of Philadelphians are insured through Medicaid. If this bill is passed, most of those residents would lose their health insurance or have their benefits cut because the state government can simply not afford the billions in Medicaid costs this bill would shift onto them. This legislation is little more than an attempt to throw groups of Americans who have long relied on Medicaid, including seniors and children, off under the guise of cost sharing.”

The bill is expected to receive a vote next week. For Philadelphians interested in advocating against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, the City has compiled this action guide.
