PHILADELPHIA – Praising their efforts as vital to an effective and efficient government, Mayor Kenney today presided over the swearing-in of 38 departmental Integrity Officers.

“I value their willingness to take on this additional responsibility, which goes above and beyond the regular duties of their job,” said the Mayor. “Fraud and abuse have no place in this government, and these Integrity Officers are dedicated to ensuring that reports of this sort of behavior are handled properly.”

Each City department has a trained Integrity Officer who works closely with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Integrity Officers serve as crucial points of contact for OIG investigators and they provide invaluable research and knowledge in support of the OIG’s work.

All of the Integrity Officers were hand-picked by Philadelphia’s Inspector General, Amy Kurland, based on experience and a proven track record of ethical service. “We choose these people because of their integrity and work ethic.  They are very pleased to have the position; it’s an honor,” said Kurland.  In fact, of the 38 Integrity Officers sworn in, 28 have already been serving in that role.

Administering the oath of office was Common Pleas Judge Gary S. Glazer.
