Philadelphia –  Mayor Jim Kenney, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation (PPR) Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell and Rebuild Executive Director Nicole Westerman will tour Francis J. Myers Recreation Center in Kingsessing to highlight the important role that programming plays at the City’s recreation centers and the possibilities that Rebuild investments present for improving programming at facilities across Philadelphia.  During the tour, Mayor Kenney will learn about the facility’s afterschool program, in addition to the current state of the facility.Francis Myers is a 6.8-acre facility named after prominent Philadelphian Francis John Myers, a teacher and lawyer who served as both a congressman and senator for Pennsylvania.  The facility has a baseball field, sports field, pool, KEYSPOT computer center, three tennis courts and six basketball courts.

Rebuild is a seven-year, $500 million investment in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. Focused on revitalizing pivotal community spaces, empowering communities and promoting economic opportunity, Rebuild is a public private partnership funded largely through the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.
