WHAT: Mayor Jim Kenney and city officials will participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for JFK Plaza/ LOVE Park. The park and the Welcome Center have been redesigned and will be renovated in 2016 and will reopen in 2017.
JFK Plaza/LOVE Park’s new design will strike a balance between preserving the beloved features of the park, such as the famous LOVE Statue by Robert Indiana, and improving on the park’s current amenities by adding more green space, a new fountain, a reorganized layout and renovations to the Welcome Center, particularly a dining addition.
Mayor Kenney will also make a special announcement about the immediate future of LOVE park as an historic attraction for skateboarding.
