Mission

The Police Advisory Commission is the official civilian oversight agency of the Philadelphia Police Department. The mission of the Police Advisory Commission is to improve the relationship between the police department and the community. The Commission, in its diversity of composition and in its functioning, is intended to represent the point of view of the Philadelphia citizenry.
The Police Advisory Commission(PAC) is authorized by Executive Order 2-17 to conduct investigations which focus on the policy, practice and customs of the Philadelphia Police Department.  In addition, the PAC will review the Police Departments' implementation of the recommendations contained in the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing and the March 2015 DOJ report: Collaborative Reform Initiative: An assessment of Deadly Force Policy and Practice in the Philadelphia Police Department. As always the PAC will conduct community outreach in order to seek input on police issues important to the community. Findings and recommendations made by the Commission are forwarded to the Mayor, the City's Managing Director and the Police Commission for their review and appropriate action.
