What we do
The Office of Property Assessment (OPA) determines what every piece of property within Philadelphia is worth. The assessed dollar value is used to calculate the property’s real estate tax due. Real estate tax (also known as property tax) provides a large part of our City’s public school funding.
We also handle abatement and exemption programs that may reduce a property’s real estate tax bill. If a property owner disagrees with an assessment or believes that an abatement or exemption has not been properly applied, the City offers options for requesting a review or filing an appeal.
Questions?
About your assessment: Contact the OPA hotline at (215) 686-9200.
About appeals, exemptions, abatements, and related issues: Contact OPA by phone or in person, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Submit an official inquiry: Visit property.phila.gov to search for your address or OPA account number. Then, navigate to the Property Details section for instructions on how to submit an official inquiry for your property.
