The Fox Chase and Burholme neighborhoods of Philadelphia are vibrant residential communities with strong local institutions, including schools, parks, health centers, and commercial corridors. However, pedestrian and bicycle access to these destinations is often limited by incomplete infrastructure, high-speed traffic, and gaps in connectivity.
The Active Transportation Plan seeks to identify safety improvements and infrastructure projects that will enhance mobility, promote physical activity, and improve public health outcomes. These future projects may include improvements like traffic calming, street redesigns, pedestrian crossings, shared-use paths, and separated bikes lanes.
