The Citizens Police Oversight Commission (CPOC) announced today that former Chair Hassan Bennett resigned from the board as of Friday, October 30, 2026, following criminal charges announced by the District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. As the criminal case unfolds, we wanted to clarify that Bennett did not access documents or case information through CPOC and his position on our Board. According to allegations by the District Attorney’s Office, he had access to databases through the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where he was employed. Acting Chair Malika Rahman will continue in the role as Interim Chair of the Commission. The Commission plans to vote to name the new chair on Thursday, November 19th.
