  • No computers – Take them to a Sanitation Convenience Center during normal business hours.
  • Latex/water-based paint – Not hazardous! If dried up or solidified with an absorbent material like kitty litter, it can be placed in regular trash.
  • No business waste – These events are strictly for household waste.

Proper Disposal Matters

Hazardous materials, labeled toxic, flammable, corrosive, or reactive, require special handling to protect people, pets, and the environment. Improper disposal can be harmful. Just one gallon of used oil can contaminate one million gallons of freshwater.

The The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) estimates that the average household accumulates up to 100 pounds of hazardous waste each year, including oil-based paint, used oil, solvents, pesticides, and car batteries. These materials should never be thrown in regular trash but instead taken to an Household Hazardous Waste event for safe disposal.
