At WES Health System, our mission is to promote the total wellness of the communities we serve through the provision of high-quality health and social services in a compassionate and effective manner. This mission is brought to life every day at Riverview Wellness Village.
Our team provides on-site behavioral health support and services designed to meet people where they are, literally and emotionally. What makes the work we do so powerful is the reality that residents don’t have to go elsewhere to receive quality care. They can access it in their own community and surrounded by people they trust. This approach reduces barriers and stigma, while strengthening relationships between therapists and residents.
Lynne Hopper, WES Therapist at Riverview Wellness Village
As a therapist with WES Health System, I’ve seen firsthand how mental health and housing stability are closely connected. Every day, I meet people who wish to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives. However, maybe they face tremendous barriers that make that journey harder. That’s why our new partnership with the City of Philadelphia at Riverview Wellness Village means so much to WES Health System. It’s more than a collaboration. It is the embodiment of our mission in action.
In my sessions, I have the privilege of listening to people’s stories. Our clients’ lives are often filled with trauma, displacement, or economic hardship. Our role in behavioral health isn’t to “fix” people, it’s to walk beside them as they reclaim control, find balance, and rediscover hope. In just the few months that we have been a part of this initiative, I have been able to witness so much resilience.
A mother who feels strong enough to reunite with her children.
Someone struggling with the depths of depression shows a desire to live.
A celebration for a client having the motivation and support to start working again.
Someone having the strength to confront an abusive past.
Providing safe spaces to discuss painful issues and supporting growth, that’s the heart of compassionate care, and it’s what WES stands for. Every interaction brings us closer to a Philadelphia where everyone has the opportunity to live well in body, mind, and spirit.
I’m proud to be part of this work, and proud to see how WES Health System continues to care for some of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable. Together with our partners at Riverview, we are showing what it means to bring wellness home.
