PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) congratulates the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners on establishing the County’s first-ever Human Relations Commission.
The newly formed Commission is dedicated to protecting its residents from discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations based on protected classes. This development strengthens the network of human relations commissions across the Commonwealth as we work together to promote justice and protect the civil rights of all residents.
“As the nation’s oldest municipal human relations commission, PCHR proudly welcomes Montgomery County into this critical work. This milestone expands our collective ability to advance equity and protect civil rights across the Greater Philadelphia region,” said Kareem E. Thomas, PCHR Chairman.
PCHR Executive Director Renee Chenault-Fattah added, “Congratulations, Montgomery County, for taking this important step in supporting civil and human rights and racial justice. This is foundational to our democracy. People want to know that local government is there for them, safeguarding their rights to fairness and opportunity.”
