The Office of Sustainability (OOS) is excited to announce that organizations can now apply for the Climate Resilience Partner Program!
OOS is seeking 18 community-based organizations to serve as Climate Resilience Partners. Over 10 months, partners will play a key role working with their communities to plan for a safe and resilient future in the face of climate impacts. Their insights will guide the creation of Philadelphia’s Climate Resilience Plan. Partners will receive training and $10,000 grants to support their work.
Why this matters
Philadelphia is facing impacts from climate change. This includes hotter summers, stronger storms, and more frequent flooding. To help communities stay informed, prepared, and safe, the City is working on updating its Climate Resilience Plan with community input.
Community input is a key part of creating a fair Climate Resilience Plan. This includes residents’ stories, feedback, and lived experiences, including those from populations most affected by climate impacts. Guided by trusted local leaders and community input, we can create a plan to keep communities safe and resilient.
About the Climate Resilience Partner Program
The Climate Resilience Partner Program brings together local leaders to engage their communities on climate resilience planning. Together, they will come up with strategies to prepare and protect their community from climate impacts. Their input will guide Philadelphia’s Climate Resilience Plan.
The program will select 18 community-based organizations – one from each planning district – to serve as Partners. Organizations will nominate a Partner Ambassador to be the main participant and point of contact for the program. Each Partner will receive $10,000 to support community engagement and resilience efforts. The program will run from September 2025 to July 2026.
As a Climate Resilience Partner, you will:
- Bring your community’s concerns and ideas directly to City leadership.
- Receive training in climate change fundamentals and how to lead community discussions.
- Co-create a resilience toolkit to share with your community.
- Be involved in drafting the city’s updated Climate Resilience Plan.
- Build relationships with other organizations and stakeholders.
