As summer winds down, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is focused on creating safe, fun, and empowering spaces for youth and families. From anti-violence events to creative youth takeovers, the season is ending on a high note.
This summer featured impactful events like Peace Not Guns at Vare Recreation Center, a Community Meeting at Miles Mack Recreation Center and Playing it Safe in the 8th District at Finley and Lonnie Young Rec Center. These community gatherings brought neighbors together around peace, safety, and support.
We’re also celebrating young talent through #TouchGrassPhilly, our youth influencer program that highlights local creators exploring parks, building their brands, and making fresh content outdoors. Philly’s parks are the backdrop for creativity, connection, and growth.
Coming up on August 14, join us for the Beyond the Bars x Teen Takeover at The Oval. This youth-led open mic and talent show is hosted in partnership with Beyond the Bars, Philly Parks & Rec, and #TouchGrassPhilly. Expect live performances, games, food vendors, and local businesses. Interested in performing? Get more details and sign up today.
