The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Streets Announces the Partial Reopening of the East Wyoming Avenue Bridge
East and westbound vehicle access to resume following repair work by
the Department of Streets Bridge Unit
PHILADELPHIA – The Department of Streets announces a partial reopening of the East Wyoming Avenue Bridge starting this Friday, June 6, 2025. Half of the bridge will reopen with a temporary traffic configuration. The former westbound vehicle and bike lanes will become one eastbound and one westbound vehicle lane. Both sidewalks have remained open throughout the closure and will continue to be open.
Thanks to the dedication of the Department of Streets Bridge Unit, this progress comes just six months after the bridge was inspected and closed in December 2024. As always, the Department’s mission is to keep Philadelphia moving and safe for everyone, no matter how they choose to travel. Work on the remaining half of the bridge is ongoing. However, this half is structurally separate from the reopened section.
Nearby, at the intersection of Wyoming and Castor Avenues, construction continues on PennDOT’s Roundabout Safety Improvement project.
The Streets Department advises drivers to use caution while traveling near the East Wyoming Avenue Bridge and Castor and Wyoming Roundabout construction projects. Please check for posted detour signs, drive slowly, pay attention, and help keep the crews and work zones safe.
