A Milestone Moment for Workforce Development
This week, the City of Philadelphia proudly celebrated the graduation of the first-ever cohort of the City College for Municipal Employment (CCME) and the Streets Department Surveyor 1 Upskilling Program. Held at the Community College of Philadelphia, the event marked a major milestone in the City’s efforts to create more pathways to career growth and economic opportunity for residents.
About CCME: A First-of-Its-Kind Initiative
Launched in October 2024, CCME is a first-of-its-kind workforce initiative that offers free, skills-based training programs to help City employees and residents advance in high-demand career fields. Since its start, more than 70 Philadelphians have enrolled, and this spring, 24 graduates completed training tracks in Business Administration, Technology, and Skilled Trades. Additional programs are offered in Healthcare, Public Safety, and STEM.
Comprehensive Support for Career Success
CCME supports learners with wraparound services, coaching, and career readiness training. It also eliminates financial barriers by offering programs at no cost, plus there are opportunities to earn financial incentives during training.
Paving the Way for Future Leaders
We’re so proud of this inaugural group. They stuck with the program, helped shape it as we went, and are now equipped to take the next step in their careers—whether in City government, with our partners, or in other roles across the region. The City congratulates all 2025 CCME graduates and looks forward to welcoming more learners in the year ahead.
