Good news, the program has been extended through June 30, 2026! If you work for the City of Philadelphia, you may be able to ride SEPTA buses, trains, trolleys, CCT for free.
This is called the SEPTA Key Advantage Program. It gives City workers a SEPTA Key Card that works just like a monthly pass. You can use it to go to work, school, or fun places—any time, any day.
If you are already enrolled, then congratulations, you have nothing more to do! Keep on riding and using SEPTA as you have been. If you aren’t enrolled yet, read on to find out who’s eligible and how you can get your Key Card.
Who Can Get It?
You can get a free SEPTA Key Card if you are:
- A full-time, part-time, or provisional (temporary but still on City payroll) City employee
But some workers are not eligible:
- Temporary employees who do not earn sick leave
- Police officers (they already ride free with a badge or in uniform)
- Workers over 65 (they can get a Senior Fare Card from SEPTA)
- City contractors and retired workers
How Much Does It Cost?
It’s free! The City pays for the monthly all access pass and one KeyCard per eligible employee. You do not need to pay anything and there’s no need to file any tax-related claims.
Where Can You Use It?
You can use your Key Card on all SEPTA services:
- Buses
- Subway and Elevated Trains
- Trolleys
- Regional Rail (all zones)
- CCT and Norristown High Speed Line
It works like a monthly pass, and you can ride up to 240 times each month.
How Do You Get Your Free Key Card?
- Ask your HR team if you are eligible.
- If you don’t have a Key Card, they’ll help you get one.
- You need to register your card online at SEPTAKey.org.
- Then go to Jawnt to enroll in the City’s program.
Make sure the email you use matches what’s in OnePhilly. That helps everything go smoothly.
Already Have a Key Card?
Great! You can use it—but only if:
- It’s not expired
- It has no other passes on it
- It doesn’t have a negative balance
If your card doesn’t work for some reason, don’t worry. You can get help from SEPTA or Jawnt support.
When Should You Sign Up?
You can sign up anytime. But if you want your free rides to start at the beginning of the next month, be sure to enroll by the 25th of this month.
