Memorial Day weekend signals that summer is just around the corner! While this weekend may be on the cooler side, the heat is coming—and Philadelphia Parks & Rec has you covered.

Did you know Philly is home to more than 70 water-based play areas? These fun, free spots go by many names—spraygrounds, splash pads, spray parks—and each offers a refreshing way to cool off.

Some Parks & Rec sites feature simple sprinklers or spray jets, while others have full splash pads with multiple water features. No matter the size, they’re all safe, family-friendly, and open to everyone at no cost.

Spraygrounds operate from Memoria Day through Labor Day.

Here’s the latest schedule:

  • Initial Activation Begins This Weekend (May 24–25)
Spray grounds with timers (nearly 60 locations at various sites) will be operating this weekend.
  • All Locations Operational by Friday, May 30
The remaining spray grounds and sprinklers will be activated next weekend, with full operation citywide beginning Friday, May 30.
  • Pre-Summer Hours (May 30 – June 15)
    • Monday to Friday: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
    • Weekend hours during this period may be limited or unavailable.
  • Stay tuned for updates on schedules and there may be exceptions for inclement weather.

We invite you and your family to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend at our Parks & Recreation sites across the city!
