The Office of Clean and Green Initiatives and the Department of Sanitation are continuing Mayor Parker’s One Philly, United City Cleaning Initiative by introducing phase two of twice-a-week trash collection. The program is set to launch Monday January 5, 2026, in the boundaries of Vine Street to Hunting Park Avenue and from Broad Street to the Schuylkill River and Vine Street to Glenwood Avenue and from Broad Street to the Delaware River. Phase 3 of the program will expand to more areas in fall 2026.
Residents within these boundaries will be permitted to set out up to 8 bags, 4 containers, and 2 household compactable items per collection. Recycling services will remain once a week, with recyclables collected on the first trash day of the week only. Residents are reminded that mixing recycling with trash during the second collection is prohibited, and fines will be issued if recycling materials are found in set-out trash.
