PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia released road closure information for the 2022 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Road Race Series taking place on Thursday, October 6. 

Race Day Activities & Information: The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Road Race Series is a 3.5-mile race open to all companies in all industries that have an interest in forging meaningful connections and cultivating healthy workplace cultures over the shared experience of fitness, friendly competition, and advanced workplace camaraderie. The race begins at 6:45 p.m. along the north side of Eakins Oval. 

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a rain or shine event. If an extreme weather scenario affects the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge on race day, Team Captains and participants will be alerted as soon as possible.

Road Closures

The following streets will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 and will reopen as the race concludes:

  • Eakins Oval in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to 23rd and Benjamin Franklin Parkway
  • Both lanes of Kelly Drive from Benjamin Franklin Parkway to Strawberry Mansion Bridge
  • Spring Garden Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Eakins Oval
  • 25th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Kelly Drive

Cyclists and Pedestrians

Kelly Drive bike lanes and walking paths will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians as conditions allow; however please follow all posted signs, detours and traffic control devices. 

Parking Restrictions

The above-listed streets will be posted as “Temporary No Parking” zones from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6. Motorists must adhere to “Temporary No Parking” signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

Additional road closures and parking restrictions may be necessary in the vicinity of the event venue as dictated by conditions. Residents and visitors should always obey posted signs and instructions from the Philadelphia Police Department.

Public Transportation

SEPTA Bus Routes 38 and 43 will be detoured from their normal routes beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 through approximately 10:00 p.m.

Detours will be posted, and specific route changes are available on the System Status Page at septa.org.

Regional Rail: For folks traveling from Delaware, the SEPTA William Newark Line is a convenient way to travel to and from Suburban Station. Additional personnel will be on site to assist travelers, and specific route details and schedule can be found at septa.org.

Public Safety Information

Throughout the event, the City will provide law-enforcement support, traffic control, and emergency medical services for the event and in the surrounding vicinity. 

Bag check will not be available at the event. Company Teams with hospitality sites may use their tents as a designated bag check area, however, companies are responsible for their employees and their property. Teams without hospitality sites should not bring personal gear to the race site. 

Attendees should never leave bags or other items unattended. In the event of an emergency or to report a suspicious person, activity, or item (backpack, package, container, etc.), notify a police officer immediately or call 9-1-1. Do not try to open, move, cover or touch a suspicious item.
