PHILADELPHIA – Maintenance work is scheduled for the Falls Bridge, between Kelly Drive and Martin Luther King Drive, overnight Thursday, March 24th announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. Temporary roadway restrictions go into effect at 9:00 p.m. Thursday through 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. Work is weather permitted, and if completed sooner than expected, the roadway may open earlier.
- The Falls Bridge will be closed to all traffic. No detour will be posted for this short duration closure. Alternate Schuylkill River crossings include City Avenue (north of Falls Bridge), Roosevelt Boulevard (south of Falls Bridge), and Strawberry Mansion Bridge (south of Falls Bridge).
- Except for possible “gaper” delays, traffic on both Drives should not be affected.
This temporary closure will allow Streets Department employees to safely make repairs on the structure. This work has been scheduled during the overnight hours to expedite the repairs and minimize the disruption to motorists.
All work will be completed and traffic will be restored in time for the morning rush hour on Friday, March 25th. For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
