ADVISORY: PFD Creates Time Capsules to Conclude 150th Anniversary

WHAT: The Philadelphia Fire Department will create three time capsules to close out the year-long celebration of its 150th anniversaryWHO: Fire Commissioner Adam ThielPFD Historical Corp. President Eugene JandaCity Representative Sheila HessFireman’s Hall Museum Curator Brian Anderson WHEN: Tuesday, March 15 at 11 a.m.WHERE: Fireman’s Hall Museum147 N. 2nd St., PhiladelphiaOfficials will donate items to three time capsules that will be designated for opening on the PFD’s 200th, 250th and 300th anniversaries. The PFD went into service as a paid municipal agency on March 15, 1871 and kicked off its sesquicentennial on March 15, 2021. The department and Fireman’s Hall have commemorated the milestone in various ways throughout the past year, including creating anniversary patches, T-shirts, billboards and new content on the museum website.
