It is with deep sadness that the Philadelphia Fire Department announces the death of Firefighter Michael Bernstein. The 22-year veteran of the PFD suffered a medical emergency on Wednesday, March 20 while on duty at Engine 78 at Philadelphia International Airport. He passed away at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

Firefighter Bernstein, 46, had worked at companies all over the city during his career. He is survived by his wife, three children, parents, and other family members.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
