PHILADELPHIA – Today the Philadelphia Commission for Women released the following statement on City Council’s passage of Fair Work Week and Minimum Wage legislation.

“The Philadelphia Commission for Women is pleased by today’s outcome on the Fair Work Week and Minimum Wage legislation. This important legislation means that thousands of Philadelphia workers will have more control over their schedules and increased potential to attain financial stability. Today is a victory for the thousands of workers in the hospitality, retail, and fast food industry who will be able to rely on predictable work schedules that allow for planning for childcare, healthcare, and better financial management for their households overall. A Fair Work Week and higher minimum wage is a victory for dignity at the workplace.”
