As summer approaches, events in Philadelphia’s parks and recreation locations are popping up left and right! Check out the free music events, movie nights, festivals, and more that are happening this weekend.
Here are our top five picks:
1. Schuylkill Banks Movie Series
This summer, Schuylkill Banks will present ten nights of outdoor movies on the Banks! This series kicks off June 7, with a showing of Beetlejuice. Bring your friends, blankets, and picnic baskets for a great time watching movies under the stars– come early to participate in a free pre-movie raffle for gift cards!
When: Thursday, June 7, 8 p.m.
Where: Center City side of Schuylkill Banks, under the Walnut Street Bridge

2. Penn Treaty Park Playground 1st Birthday
Come out to the first birthday celebration of the Penn Treaty Park playground! The event will include food, games, and a concert featuring musical stylings of The Crush and Effusion 35.
When: Friday, June 8, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

3. Music & Mist Summer Concert Series
Join the Friends of Julian Abele Park for the Music & Mist Summer Concert Series! Bring a blanket, cooler, and chairs to enjoy the free entertainment. This music series will feature a variety of musical acts: the series kicks off on June 8 with Maggy Thump.
When: Fridays, June 8-September 7, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

4. West Park Arts Fest
The West Park Cultural Center, in conjunction with Fairmount Park Conservancy and Mural Arts Philadelphia, are hosting the 11th Annual West Park Arts Festival. This festival will be a free day of performances and activities for the entire family, taking place on South Concourse Drive between 41st and East Memorial Hall Drive in West Fairmount Park.

When: Saturday, June 9, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

5. Outdoor Phila Flea at McMichael Park
Phila Flea Markets will be hosting a flea market in McMichael Park this Saturday. Come out to shop from vendors from the tri-state area, featuring collectibles, jewelry, clothing, artwork, food, and more!

When: Saturday, June 9, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

And as always, Parks on Tap is traveling around the city! All Parks on Tap locations will include seating and tables, games, restrooms, and a menu of hot food, salads, and snacks. This weekend, Parks on Tap travels to Matthias Baldwin Park.
