From festivals, to performances, to nature walks, there’s plenty to do this first weekend of June at Philadelphia’s parks and rec centers!
Here are our top five picks:

Parks on Tap at Gorgas Park, featuring the Roxborough Music Festival
This weekend, Parks on Tap has partnered with the Friends of Gorgas Park to host the Roxborough Music Festival at Gorgas Park. The collaboration will showcase seven musical performers, food trucks, art and crafts, and kids’ games on Saturday, June 2 from 1 p.m.-9 p.m. [UPDATE: The Roxborough Music Festival has been canceled due to forecasted inclement weather. Please stay tuned to Parks on Tap social media for updates on the beer garden’s status each day.]
Each week, Parks on Tap travels to a different Philadelphia park on a Wednesday and stays through Sunday. All Parks on Tap locations include seating and tables, games, restrooms, and a menu of hot food, salads, and snacks. Parks on Tap runs through September 30. It was created by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy in partnership with FCM Hospitality.

Star Players Present: A Night at the Movies
The Star Players of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation are a theater arts group for the Parks & Rec community who provide cultural activities for children and adults of all backgrounds.
When: Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2, 7 p.m.
Where: Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center
Cost: $15 in advance; $20 at the door

Philadelphia Senior Games Kickoff
The Philadelphia Senior Games are for adults 50+, with a variety of fitness activities and sporting events at various sites throughout the city. Parks & Rec sponsors the games, which are modeled after the Keystone State Games.
The games run June 2-8, with a special kick-off day on Saturday, June 2. Festivities will include an opening ceremony, a senior health expo, fitness demos, and the start of the games.
When: Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: Expo is free; $15 to participate in 3 games

Krewstown Festival
Come out for a festival that celebrates the history and nature of Pennypack Creek and the evolution of Northeast Philadelphia. Festivities include an opening parade by the Boy Scouts,
nature tours by foot and bike to Baptismal Rock, history tours of Pennepack Church & Cemetery, a photo show and contest, blacksmithing and woodworking workshops, educational and informative displays, and more.When: Sunday, June 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts: Cristal Palace
Come watch a performance by Transe Express, the celebrated French performance troop, as part of Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). This is their world premiere of Cristal Palace, a 360-degree immersive event featuring a human chandelier as the centerpiece.
PIFA includes more than 50 performances of music, dance, comedy, and gravity-defying spectacles, and a street fair! Learn more at kimmelcenter.org.
