The Greater Philadelphia Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC) is holding an event to help Hurricane Maria evacuees from Puerto Rico in their continued recovery from the storm. A variety of organizations will be available to assist disaster survivors at the resource fair.
The fair will provide an opportunity to meet face-to-face with organizations involved in the LTRC. Some of the services available include FEMA assistance and appeals, employment, health, housing, legal services, and unmet needs people are experiencing.
The event will take place Thursday, April 5th, 2pm at Asociacion de Puertorriquenos en Marcha (APM). APM is located at 4221 N 2nd Street (2nd Street near Hunting Park Avenue) Philadelphia, PA 19140. The association’s phone number is 267-296-7200.
There is help available daily for anyone affected by the hurricane who cannot be at the April 5th event. Casa del Carmen has weekday walk in-in hours. They are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Casa del Carmen is located at 4400 N Reese Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140. Their phone number is 215-329-5660. The Long Term Recovery Committee is a collection of community groups, volunteer organizations, faith-based services, and government agencies. It was formed to provide a single contact for Hurricane Maria evacuees in Philadelphia to receive continued aid to beyond initial FEMA assistance.

Partners forming the LTRC include Southeastern PA Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), Liberty Lutheran Services, Ceiba, Casa del Carmen, Taller Puertorriqueño, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Catholic Social Services, Asociacion de Puertorriquenos en Marcha (APM), United Church of Christ, Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), Free Library of Philadelphia, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Region III (HUD), Federal Emergency Managment Agency Region III (FEMA), Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and more.
Over 2,000 people, making up 897 families, came to the Disaster Assistance Services Center in the fall of 2017 which helped them in their initial step towards disaster recovery. The LTRC is an expansion of the resources provided at the DASC and the best way for disaster survivors to get connected to assistance moving forward.
