PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia is joining cities across the nation to celebrate America Saves Week, a campaign to promote good savings behavior and encourage residents to assess their own saving status. Starting today, the Office of Community Empowerment & Opportunity (CEO), will have counselors available at its Financial Empowerment Centers ready to identify strategies to help residents reduce debt, increase savings, balance your budget and achieve greater financial security.
“The Financial Empowerment Center counselors are dedicated to making it possible for all Philadelphia residents, especially low income individuals, to become empowered to achieve their economic goals and ultimately build household wealth that can be passed on to the next generation,” says Mitch Little, executive director at the Office of Community Empowerment & Opportunity.
In encouraging residents to not just save but establish good long-term saving habits, CEO has partnered with Clarifi to offer our community one-on-one Financial Empowerment counseling. Counselors will provide helpful savings tips, like automating your savings, reducing debt by implementing key saving strategies and creating a plan that you can stick to.
“When you have debt, your money works for someone else. When you have savings, your money works for you. America Saves Week is a great opportunity to help people in our community set a goal, make a plan, and save automatically,” said Will Hall, Financial Empowerment Program Manager at CEO.
