On April 8, 2005, the Philadelphia Police Department and the Police Advisory Commission announced the publication of three Citizen Information Bulletins, an effort to create plain-language summaries describing police actions and responsibilities during common interactions with citizens. The bulletins are the result of ongoing discussions between the Commission and the Police Department aimed at bridging the communication gap between police and the public. Future topics include service of warrants, off-duty police actions, and other topics of concern voiced by the public, the police deparment or the Commission. The Commission and the Police Department encourage comments and discussion regarding police-citizen interactions, the contents of the bulletins and potential future topics of additional bulletins. |
