Welcoming Week 2022
Welcoming immigrants and connecting communities in Philadelphia through a series of cultural events and community dialogues.
As a Welcoming City, Philadelphia has shown its commitment to this national cause for over six years by coordinating events and programming throughout the city. This year, the Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) and its partners are curating events that touch on the national theme of “Where We Belong.” We invite you to join us in these diverse, inclusive, and thought-provoking discussions among our residents.
Welcoming Week is a national initiative developed in partnership with Welcoming America. By encouraging dialogue and forging relationships between immigrants, refugees, and U.S.-born citizens, this initiative builds common ground in Philadelphia’s communities.
This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy.
Join several City agencies and commissions for a virtual town hall on bullying, recovery, and suicide awareness.
ASL interpretation and language interpretation will be provided. You can confirm your needs during registration and submit your questions in advance.
Through food and dialogue, participants will explore topics like overcoming barriers, healthy integration, and building positive relationships, strengths, and resilience.
This event celebrates the International Day of Peace and promotes the wellbeing of refugees and immigrants in Philadelphia.
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for a local rough cut community screening of Expanding Sanctuary. Directed by Kristal Sotomayor, this short film tells a powerful story about community organizing in collaboration with Juntos to limit police surveillance in the city’s Latinx immigrant community.
Join Philadelphia government leaders, local immigrant advocates, legal service providers, and community leaders for our first annual Philadelphia Welcoming Awards.
The awards celebrate immigrant-inclusive City agencies and community organizations.
