The scales tell the tale: The Fire Department beat the Police Department in the 31st annual Battle of the Badges weight-loss competition! Fire now leads the series 16-15 and will take home the 4-foot-tall trophy. Weight Watchers of Philadelphia will donate $10,000 in the Fire Department’s name to the Hero Thrill Show Inc.
Over the 13-week competition, Fire had an average weight loss of 10.25 pounds per person among their top losers, while Police had an average weight loss of 9.68 pounds per person among their top losers. The total combined weight loss for both departments was 3,559.54 pounds — marking another successful year of working to keep our members healthier.
The Hero Thrill Show Inc. provides scholarship funds for children of Philadelphia firefighters and police officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. To date, Weight Watchers has donated more than $267,500 for scholarships.
