What’s your role and what will you be working on first?
I joined the Office of Immigrant Affairs in September 2025 as the Operations and Engagement Specialist. My work focuses on the behind-the-scenes details that make immigrant-inclusive community engagement possible from tabling at resource fairs, health centers, and food pantries across the city hosting our annual Welcoming Awards and supporting more than 45 flag raisings at City Hall.
What past experience or skills are you bringing to the team?
I bring skills in community engagement, particularly in the workforce development sector, strong organizational abilities such as creating guidelines for language vendors as part of our Language Access Program, and a background in case management and employer relations. With a strong foundation in English language and literature, my bi-directional approach to communications helps me connect with diverse audiences across generations.
What’s something you’re excited to learn or accomplish this year?
One of the projects I’m most excited about is serving as project manager for Philadelphia’s Welcoming America re-certification. This initiative involves coordinating collaboration across community partners, city agencies, and local government to advance immigrant-inclusive policies. By the end of this year, we’ll proudly recertify as a Welcoming City, and I’m thrilled to contribute to such a meaningful, long-term effort in this new role.
In a few sentences, share a personal detail we can include (language, hometown, hobby, or community connection).
Growing up in New York City, a place built on the labor and resilience of immigrants, African Americans, and other marginalized groups; and working closely with English Language Learners in adult education at Beyond Literacy and with social service nonprofits like the International Rescue Committee have shaped my commitment to this work. Since high school, my love for speaking French has allowed me to broaden my impact both in this role and within Philadelphia’s immigrant communities. I want to ensure that all Philadelphians regardless of English proficiency or status can build a live worth living here and have the economic, social and cultural opportunities to prosper. I am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a collaborative and compassionate team of people at OIA.
