The Capital Program Office is pleased to announce the completion of Shissler Playground in November 2025, located at 1800 Blair Street. Funded by Councilmember Quetcy Lozada, this $360,000 project delivers a modern, accessible, and engaging play space for the community.

Project Highlights

  • New custom play equipment for 2-5 and 5-12 age groups
  • Play mound with climbing features and balance beam
  • New safety surfacing throughout the playground
  • Concrete repairs and expanded tree pits
  • New picnic area with an ADA-accessible table
  • New benches throughout the playground area

The project incorporates inclusive design elements, including ground-level play panels and accessible transfer points, ensuring that children of all abilities can enjoy the space. Equipment and site features reflect community input gathered through meetings and surveys, providing play options for both younger children and older children attending afterschool programs.

These improvements support the City’s ongoing commitment to creating safer, cleaner, and greener public spaces.
