10:30AM Mayor Parker to Join PHL and FAA to Mark Completion of Runway Safety Project (EMAS)

Mayor Parker, along with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation will celebrate the completion of the installation of Philadelphia International Airport’s first Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS), which is designed to stop an overrunning aircraft. PHL received an $8.5 million Airport Infrastructure Grant from the FAA for this project.
