Officials gathered to celebrate 29 Philadelphia schools for their outstanding work through the Green Schools Program. This year’s celebration highlighted student-led green projects and included a powerful panel discussion between student ambassadors and City leadership focused on sustainability. Schools from across the city—public, charter, independent, and parochial—were recognized for their creative and impactful contributions.
Each participating school received a grant of up to $2,500, totaling $72,500 in funding. These grants supported hands-on projects such as school gardens, composting programs, recycling campaigns, and more—all designed to promote sustainability in both the classroom and the community.
The Green Schools Program is a key part of Mayor Cherelle Parker’s education and sustainability agenda, demonstrating her administration’s vision for high-quality learning and a cleaner, greener Philadelphia.
City leaders emphasized that the program empowers students to become sustainability leaders, inspiring change not just in schools but also in homes and neighborhoods across the city. The event served as a vibrant reminder that when we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of Philadelphia.
