There are no free and fun events open to the public at Community Schools in April…. Just kidding, April Fools. There are many!
Community Schools serve students and communities throughout the city year-round with free resources including providing nutritious food, job training, ESL and GED prep classes, after-school programs and more for Philadelphians.

Throughout the month of April
When: Every Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Alain Locke School
Stop by for free, nutritious groceries! This pop-up pantry is run by the People’s Emergency Center and features perishable and nonperishable food. Drexel’s Eat Right Philly program
hosts cooking demonstrations.
When: Every Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Murrell Dobbins High School
Pick up free, fresh fruits and vegetables. This weekly produce stand is operated by Philabundance and held in front of the school, weather pending.
When: Every Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Murrell Dobbins High School
Come out to Get Fit Saturdays for healthy activities for the whole family. This fun fitness event includes tai chi, yoga, youth basketball, babysitter certification, and more!
On specific dates in April
When: Monday, April 1, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Where: Edward Gideon Elementary
Gideon is the place to be on the first Monday of each month. This free resource fair is open to all. Join for the clothing closet, benefits access, adult education, job opportunities, and more.
When: Thursday, April 4, 12 to 3 p.m.
Where: Tilden Middle School
There’s a new clothing closet popping up in town! Stop by Tilden to refresh your wardrobe, stock up on toiletries, and shop for furniture. Free and open to all.
When: Monday, April 8, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Logan Elementary School
Stop by and shop for affordable fruits and vegetables provided by the Share Food Program. Cash, credit, and EBT/SNAP benefits are accepted.
When: Wednesday, April 10, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Logan Elementary School
Pick up free, fresh fruits and vegetables provided by Philabundance. This event is held outside of the school, weather pending.
When: Friday, April 12, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: F.S. Edmonds
Get your weekly produce! Free and open to all. Run by the School District’s Eat Right Philly program and the Share Food Program. The farm stand accepts cash and EBT/SNAP benefits.
When: Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: William Cramp Elementary
Mark your calendars for the next Community Saturday at William Cramp! Join and shop for professional clothing, help us design the school’s new mural, and more!

Where: South Philadelphia High School
The 2019 Literacy Carnival and Summer Camp Fair is coming up soon. Hosted by Bethanna, this event will include free books, games, healthy snacks, and resources.
