PHILADELPHIA –  On Thursday December 7, the Mayor’s Office of Education and PHLpreK will host an Early Childhood Education Training & Education Fair. The event is free and open to the public, and will provide information on how to begin or advance a teaching career in early childhood education.

The fair will feature over 30 universities, nonprofits, and training opportunities specializing in early childhood education career development. Participants can also attend workshops on teacher-specific scholarships, the benefits of the Child Development Associate certification, and returning to college as an adult.

The event will kick off with brief remarks from Mayor Jim Kenney, PHLpreK Director Julie Beamon, and Dr. Cheryl Logan from the School District of Philadelphia.

Since launching in January 2017, PHLpreK has created more than 250 teaching and support staff positions in early childhood education, and is committed to supporting continued workforce growth through efforts such as the Training & Education Fair.
