- This commission has ceased to function. The work of the Commission helped the City to create a new Department of Recreation in 1911.
- Agency History
- Mayor John E. Reyburn appointed the Public Playgrounds Commission on 27 May 1909, following a joint City Councils resolution empowering the Mayor to appoint such a commission, to conduct a study of the city's need for playground facilities and a report with recommendations for filling such needs.
