Surveys: 4th Survey District[Record group 90-4]
- Agency History
- The 4th District was created in 1854 to cover the 13th, 14th and 15th Wards. In 1890, it was enlarged to cover the 11th - 17th Wards. A further expansion in 1917 added the 20th, 29th, 32nd and 47th Wards to its jurisdiction. In 1929, the 4th Ward was transferred to cover the Far Northeast, north of Grant Avenue and Welsh Road. In 198_, it was enlarged to cover the Far Northeast when the 1st District was abolished.
