Dear Philadelphia Faith Leader
On behalf of Mayor Michael A. Nutter, you are cordially invited to the Mayor’s Annual Clergy Appreciation Breakfast (at The View) and Interfaith Service Visit to the Philadelphia Prison System, scheduled for 7:30 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011. We thank Rev. Dr. Herbert H. Lusk, II, Pastor & CEO of the Greater Exodus Baptist Church and People for People Inc. for again very generously hosting the sumptuous breakfast at its five-star banquet facility, The View, located at 800 N. Broad Street, 8th floor in Philadelphia.
Following the breakfast we will board charter shuttles [the church will provide secure parking with continual police monitoring] that will transport us to the six correctional facilities [RCF, CFCF, ASD, HOC, PICC, and DC] within the Philadelphia Prisons System complex. Upon arrival we will support Mayor Nutter’s inspirational and motivational visits to each facility and minister through the inspired Word, song, prayer and individual engagement with other faith and community leaders and facility residents. The service will have an integrative ecumenical and inter-faith themed focus on the impact of faith, right relationships, and life integrity. Our primary purpose is to promote positive aspirations and hope among residents; and rekindle community linkages that support successful planning and follow through regarding residents’ community reintegration. The ecumenical service and engagement visit is usually completed within four hours. This visit is well received by the residents and participating faith and community leaders.
To confirm your attendance please register using our online form. If you have specific questions about the breakfast and Interfaith visit please follow up with Jacqueline Bray, Project Specialist, at (215) 686-3903. We will confirm receipt of your communications by email as well as notify you of scheduling and program updates. Note that all shuttle/facility assignments will be finalized on Monday, December 12, 2011. We will endeavor to optimize participation of all attending faith leaders. Thank you again for volunteering to support this important Mayoral Initiative.
Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Malcolm T. Byrd, Interim Director
