The
Philadelphia Fire Department delivers
efficient and effective fire protection and provides emergency medical
services to the citizens of Philadelphia.
Philadelphia's
Department of Human Services works
to protect children from abuse, neglect, and delinquency; to ensure
their safety and permanency in nurturing home environments; and
to strengthen and preserve families by enhancing community-based
prevention services.
The Office of
the Inspector General enhances
the public confidence in City government by investigating complaints
of fraud, corruption, and abuse; and by recommending programs/policies
which educate and raise the awareness of all City officials/employees.
The Department of Licenses
and Inspections (L&I) administers
and enforces the City's code requirements, including building, fire,
housing, business, and zoning regulations, for the enhancement of
public safety.
Philly´s
Kids provides
information to young people, parents and caregivers, youth-serving
organizations and youth-involved businesses – about what is available
for children and what we are doing to improve their lives.
The Philadelphia
Police Department works
in partnership with the citizens of Philadelphia to raise the level
of public safety through law enforcement, reducing the fear and
incidence of crime.
The Department
of Public Health protects
the health of Philadelphia´s citizens through enhanced use of public
health data to better target neighborhood services; strengthening
of the city's response system to health emergencies; and improvement
of the department's ability to deliver culturally competent services
to diverse communities.
The Philadelphia
Department of Recreation manages
and operates all City recreation facilities, including Veteran's
Stadium and 100 public parks and squares, to encourage and enhance
the development of the physical, cultural, artistic, and life skills
of the residents of the City.
The Department
of Records sets
records management standards and procedures for all City of Philadelphia
departments, boards, commissions and agencies, manages key central
recordkeeping operations and services, directs public access to
municipal records, and establishes and collects fees to cover the
cost of providing copies of records.
The
Streets Department provides
clean and safe streets for the city of Philadelphia. It carries
out its mission through four divisions: Sanitation, Highways, Engineering,
which includes design, streetlighting and traffic units; and Administration.
The Office of Emergency
Shelter and Services (OESS) provides
comprehensive case management, protective, preventive, and referral
services to adults and families in need of temporary shelter and
affordable housing.
The
Philadelphia Water Department provides safe drinking water
for residents, supplies water for industries to manufacture goods
here in the City, and protects the region's water resources.
